Governor of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola on Friday commissioned the New Secretariat Complex of Ola-Oluwa South East Local Council Development Area with a promise to further bring development closer to the people at the grassroots.
Represented by his deputy, Mr Benedict Alabi, the governor said, the new complex was a symbol of service to the people, which his administration is always committed to.
According to him, it was meant to boost the morale of the council workers to operate under conducive atmosphere that will inspire them to offer effective and efficient service to the people.
“As you occupy this edifice, you are expected to be more efficient, as local government is a veritable avenue to generate funds for the socio-economic development of the state.
“Delivery of adequate quality service to the people is the ultimate goal of our development agenda which everyone must key into and development of grassroots is one of the ways to achieve it”, he said.
The governor then tasked both the career officers and the political office holders to make judicious use of the new complex for the benefit of all.
Reeling out his achievements, Chairman of the council, Honourable Adedayo Adebiyi listed restoration of electricity and replacement of broken electric poles, establishment of 25 Acres of Cashew plantation to boost IGR, sinking of motorised boreholes and appointment of casual workers.
He also mentioned construction of 3000-capacity poultry, procurement of electrical materials like cables, insulators, accessories for the installation of transformer, renovation of the Mdel Hospital Ilemowu, procurement of drugs to health centers, periodic grading of roads and construction of culverts among others.
The council boss stressed that “the achievements recorded was in line with the government resolve to make lives more meaningful for the people of the state”.
“Moreso, the project being commissioned today became a reality because the career officers and poliical functionaries in this council share the same vision and pursued it collectively”, he noted.
Noting that his administration is irrevocably committed to making live better for the people, he called for the citizens’ support, particularly through prompt payment of taxes and dues for the execution of more people-oriented projects.
