Government of the State of Osun said it has been making effort to change the electricity connection of some communities in the state from Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), with a view to giving them relief.
This is part of the efforts of the Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s administration to lighten up Dagbaja, Fiade-Onigba, Apoti Ayetoro, Orisunmibare-Jubirila and Lawole-Asaka, in Oriade South Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and other communities in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the governor, the Special Adviser on Rural Development and Community Affairs, Engineer Mumini Adekunle, dropped this hint during the on-the-spot assessment of the communities with the management of the ministry.
According to a statement by the Information Officer, Ademola Lawal, the governor regretted that the affected communities have been in total darkness for the past 10 years and it was part of his electioneering campaign that his government would bring succour to the area.
According to him, the administration is irrevocably committed to meeting up with the responsibilities of government to put smile on the faces of citizenry.
Earlier, Honourable Desmond Ojo, representing Oriade Constituency in the State House of Assembly, appreciated the effort of the governor for incorporating affected communities in the year 2020 budget.
Also speaking, the Chairman Oriade South LCDA, Hon.Felix Aboge, promise to do the road grading of the area in earnest, just as he charged the people to continue supporting the government of the day and pay their taxes promptly.
