Osun Monarch, Alayegun of Ode-Omu Dies

Alayegun of Ode-Omu in Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Abdul Hameed Oke, Ladowe 1 is dead.

The monarch died on Tuesday at the Muslim Hospital, Ede at the age of 95.

A source within the family confirmed that the late monarch had been on sick bed since about a month ago and had been taken abroad for medical attention.

He said, Oba Oke was later returned home and subsequently admitted at Ede Muslim Hospital until his demise.

According to the family source, the remains of the monarch had been returned to Ode-Omu was slated to be buried today (Wednesday) around 10am.

The late Oba Oke ascended the throne in May 2012.

When contacted, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke said, the government has not been officially informed of the monarch’s death.

He said, “We heard it too, but as far as we are concern, it is still a rumour, because we have not been officially informed as a government”.
