Osun Police Nabs Serial Killer, Fraudster, Raids Shrine in Osogbo

Osun State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial killer, Teslim Raji, also known as Akerele and his accomplice, Femi Bamidele for alleged multiple murder, gun running, kidnapping and threat to lives.

The command also raided a ritual shrine at Owode area in Osogbo allegedly being used to defraud unsuspecting members of the public and arrested a suspected fraudsters, Fatai Olanrewaju on Friday.

Parading Akerele on Friday, the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Ige said, he was suspected to be the brain behind the killing and banditry around Ikire axis of the state.

She said, “Last year, he was arrested charged to court and granted bail but jumped bail. After jumping bail, he still went to kill someone and since then the police has been on his trail.

“His conspirator was arrested earlier when our officer went to his house and one of his boys tried to escape”, she said.

On the raid of the shrine, led by her, the Commissioner of Police said, the operation followed a complaint from a woman who claimed that she was duped by the suspect, Olanrewaju.

“The woman said the suspect has been collecting money under the guise that he was helping her.

“You can imagine the number of people who would have fell victim of his activities and the money rituals that would have been done here”, the CP explained.

Akerele said he was an herbalist, member of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and the head of a security team in Ikoyi community, Isokan Local Government of Osun State.

He said, the guns and some other weapons found with him were being used for his security job.

“I am an herbalist and a member of OPC as well as the head of security in Ikoyi Community. We are engaged by our traditional ruler and local government authority.

“The guns I was arrested with were the ones we are using for security in our Community. The guns were sold to us by one Jimoh from Kogi State and some of them were register while some were not”, Akerele said.

Also, Olanrewaju said, a lady came to him recently that he was indebted and wanted a charm that would enable her lender forget it.

“I think the woman owed about N150,000 and came to me for help. I collected 60k from her for the service.

“One of the materials found with me were being used to communicate with the people we work for. Those who want the truth will get it and those who want lies will get it.

“I have not engaged in money ritual”, the suspect said.

The CP said the suspect would be investigated and charged to court.
