Oyetola Sues for Tribal Cooperation, Unity

Governor of the State of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola has called for unity and accommodation among tribes residing in the state.

He spoke through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke at the turbanning ceremony of the new Sarkin Hausawa of the Source, Alhaji Lawal Isiaka Yaro by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi in his palace on Saturday.

According to him, it is only when there is harmonious relationship among the people living together that the series of developmental programmes being embarked on by the government can be meaningful.

He hailed Oba Ogunwusi and the people of Ile-Ife for accommodating the Hausaa in Ifeland regardless of their tribe, saying, the gesture of the monarch was a clear demonstration of a peaceful leader who beliefs in unity and development of the country.

The governor also lauded the Hausas for being peaceful and cooperating with the people of the ancient town to guarantee peace and unity.

Stressing that his administration would not relent in developing Ile-Ife as the source of the Yoruba race, he urged the Hausa to also shun any act that could truncate the peaceful coexistence for the ongoing development to percolate.

He urged the Hausa to always respect the culture and tradition of their host communities, so that there can be peace.

“Osun is a peaceful state and we want every tribe residing here, either you are a Yoruba, Hausa, Ibo or any other tribe to cooperative with the government to sustain this peace.

“It is only when we sustain the peace in our state that the efforts of our government in developing this space called Osun can be meaningful and beneficial to all of us”, the governor stressed.
