Governor of Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has urged traditional rulers in the state to continue their supports and cooperation with his government by maintaining communal peace and harmony in their domains.
He gave the admonition at the official presentation of staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to the newly-installed Alara of Ara, Oba (Dr) Olubayo Adesola Windapo.
According to the governor, the event was another demonstration of respect, recognition and attention that his administration accorded the traditional institution, being the eye and ear of government at grassroots.
The governor who was represented by the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Rasaki Adeosun, urged the people of the ancient town to extend warm hands of fellowship to the new monarch and cooperate with him in developing the community, in order to restore the lost glory of the town.
According to a statement by the Information Officer, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ademola Lawal, he implored residents of the community to continue to be law abiding and embrace peace because no meaningful development can be achieved in an environment that is full of rancour.
While advising the new monarch to see himself as father for all his subjects, the governor tasked him to strive for the growth, development and peace of the town.
He then enjoined all and sundry not to relent in fulfilling their civic duties by paying taxes and rates promptly.
